General Pilates FAQ
Pilates is a full-body physical exercise system that utilizes a series of specialized machines and exercise routines. Pilates is an effective workout for toning muscles and improving posture. Pilates is also used to aid recovery from injuries such as back pain by strengthening effected areas.
Pilates and Yoga are similar in the sense that they promote flexibility and strength and allow a connection between mind and body. However, Pilates relies on constant, flowing movement, as opposed to held poses, as well as incorporates specialized machines in the workout.
Private sessions are recommended for first time clients to understand the basics and fundamentals at their own pace. Please arrive 15 minutes early to familiarize yourself with the studio, fill out the registration form and meet your instructor.
Yes, we offer private classes for pregnant women. However, we require a medical certificate from your doctor that you are safe to do Pilates during Pregnancy. You and your Instructor will focus on core control, pelvic floor, posture, balance, and breathing to help you transition with your body throughout your pregnancy, delivery and post-natal recovery.
Absolutely! Joseph Pilates, the inventor, was a man. Pilates offers the same benefits to men as it does to women.
Please contact us and let us know about your medical condition so we can discuss how we can use Pilates to your benefit.
